Kona is the first GSP I've owned. A good friend of mine said that a breeder he knew of, Carl Porter, had a litter of pups for sale and I better jump on it quick! Carl's litters have a long waiting list. Boy, am I glad I pulled the trigger on getting a pup from Carl. Carl assured me that these dogs could hunt right out the box, and boy was he right! Kona has a superb nose and pointed and backed naturally at six months old with little to no training! Must be Carl's great breeding program. Kona is now 9 years old and still hunts like she's a pup. After hunting wild quail and Chukar for 10 years I decided I needed a companion to go hunting with. I had heard of Carl Porter through other hunters and online posts. I called and spoke with him, and he assured me I could have it all from one of his dogs. I was on a waiting list for some time, but it was well worth it. What I got was a great bird finding dog that ranges well on foot and keeps track of me when we are working in the field. He's also a wonderful in the house and a great family dog. 6 years later, we are still finding birds and he's really my best friend and ready to go anywhere, anytime. Our Rita (It's Margarita time somewhere) bred by Huntingdogtrainer.net (Carl Porter) is by far a new class of GSP. We have had 5 shorthairs from Carl now and this little girl is on a new level. She has it all style ability and drive like no other. I have always had the best dog in the field from Carl and always the most celebrated hunter on wild birds. But this little bitch takes the cake she is by far the best that I have ever seen Carl breed going back to the elite blood lines. At 6 months old she has shown so much ability and drive that I have never seen in a GSP and I have been around a lot of them in the last 15 years.
