Saturday February 11th, 2011 Chris Smith's "Coltrane" ordered
up a first place performance in a 26 dog Open Gun Dog stake.
Coltrane started out with a powerful forward race disappearing
to the front only to be found buried in a thickly covered draw
on point for a nice limb find by careful scouting from his owner
Chris. After being released and claiming the front again he had
a second find only to be handled with all the skill
of a seasoned veteran. His final find, again buried up in thick
cover sealed the win. His experience in hunting wild birds on
fantastic trail grounds made it easy for him to show off a
little of his bird hunting skills. His kind handle and perfect
range for the run back to camp was a very pleasant experience.
He made owner Chris Smith and handler Carl Porter very proud
this weekend. Good job Coltrane Boy!
